FSTD Evaluators Course (5-day)

Covering all types of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD's), this course aims at preparing individuals who are involved with or responsible for carrying out the evaluation and qualification of FSTD's.  It is an in-depth course with considerable hands-on FSTD sessions for both testing and analysis.

This is an extended 5-day FSTD Evaluators course for those individuals who desire additional hands-on sessions.  It is run as an on-demand basis.

FSTD 6-day Course Overview

FSTD Operators & Managers Course (2-day)

This is an abbreviated 5-day FSTD Evaluators course and run concurrently with it.  It covers a large portion of the theory of FSTD evaluation but without any hands-on sessions.  It focuses on the requirements of an operator to prepare and maintain a FSTD to international standards, including regulations, practices and processes.

The following describes, in general terms, the content of TTI’s  Evaluators courses.

The courses consist of classroom lecture, classroom workshops, *FSTD familiarization trips, *hands-on FSTD testing (including the use of evaluator test equipment), *and full analysis of test results.  (* items only on the full course)

• The Joint Aviation Authorities, its origin, & development.
• The process of development, and amendment, of JAR-FSTD and FAA Regulations.
• The historical function, structure and responsibilities of the JAA
• ICAO 9625 rev 3 development and it's implications*
• Interim situation until EASA regulations come into effect*
• JAR-FSTD—the interface with JAR-OPS and JAR-FCL.
• JAR-FSTD—the format and the use of JAR and ACJ – and in-depth review including the intent of the Regulations.
(JAR-FSTD 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 1H, 2H, 3H).
• In-depth review of the differences between JAR-FSTD and FAA AC 120-40B/C,120-45A,120-63 & CFR Part 60*
• FSTD Joint Implementation Procedures (JIP)—the principle and methodology of Standardization Teams.
• Planning a Qualification evaluation.
• 12 hours actual evaluation of various STD. Pilots on the course fly some manual QTG cases.
• Evaluation of actual simulator visual systems using test patterns and equipment.
• Supervised analysis of Qualification Test Guides: content, layout and evaluation of auto and manual test results.*
• Review of the requirements of a Quality System with practical examples of an approved Quality Plan.
• FSTD Data issues: "flown" data, substitute data, engineering data.
• Special issues related to Flight & Navigation Procedure Trainers.*
• Special issues related to helicopter FSTD's*
